After many years in the corporate world and two kids later, I truly understood what fatigue and burnout meant and the negative impact of constant stress on a person's life. This hectic lifestyle eventually catches up with us. Then, we have to stop and reassess. I had to stop. I had to reassess. I made changes. Feeling like myself once again made me truly understand the impact that changes in nutrition and lifestyle can make.

It is hard to know what to do in the midst of fad diets and contradictory, overcomplicated information. I get it. Having failed at so many diets and the frustration with unclear information on nutrition led me back to the books. Six years later, I became a qualified nutritionist.

Now I want to help others stuck in this hectic lifestyle and exhaustion to feel like themselves again.

I'm looking forward to working together!

A BIT MORE …

What Was You Previous Career?

I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I worked in consulting and banking until I got promoted to "mum" :-) This promotion (twice!) alongside moving countries a few times made it harder to continue in this line of work - for me this was a blessing in disguise.

Why A Blessing In Disguise?

During my first two years of university I studied Pharmacology and Biochemistry. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to complete it then, but life gave me a second chance to follow my true passion now.

Why Now?

I never truly stopped studying nutrition. I always had a book in hand, a movie/tv show or podcast in stand by just in case I had spare time (not that I had that many!). Once my boys were old enough and we were settled in Australia, I was lucky to go back and work in a profession I truly love.

Settle In Australia? Where Are You From?

I'm from Brazil but have been living overseas for the past 18 years.

So ... What Diet Do You Follow?

At home we do little individual adjustments depending on our needs and taking into consideration changes overtime. In general, we aim to minimise gluten, dairy and sugar consumption. We are certainly not perfect! We strive for an 80-20 approach as I believe that, unless you have a health condition that requires a diet protocol (then you should stick with it!), this approach works well for us.

What Is Your Approach To Improve Health?

The answer to health is very simple - and so it should be! When you eat well, live an active lifestyle and practice self love - you feel well. The catch is that what works for each one of us is a unique combination of nutrients and lifestyle choices that are constantly changing - that is why it is so important to listen to the signals our bodies are sending us.

The good news is that if we feed the body with the right nutrients and the mind with the right thoughts, the body will do what is meant to do and will self regulate and work how is meant to work (and for some people this can translate into weight loss, which is what many women come to see me for).

Can You Explain More About The Body Signals?

These signals are how our body communicates with us that we are hungry, tired, anxious, happy and so much more! In a simplified way, these signals can be transmitted via our nervous system and/or our hormones. Nowadays though, I believe that we are so busy listening to what is happening outside our bodies, that we forget to listen to, or lost touch with, or “broke" our bodies signals. This ‘jammed’ transmission ends up with us feeling ‘all over the place’. That is why I am passioned about getting these signals back on track and rebalanced.

What Is Your Approach To Rebalance These Signals?

I work with a program called Metabolic Balance.

You Don’t Like Diets Why Do you Use The Metabolic Balance Program?

Precisely because I don’t believe in the ‘one diet fits all’ model and quick fixes. The Metabolic Balance Program is an all-natural nutritional tailored program combined with practitioner support.

Each Metabolic Balance plan is created exclusively for each woman based on their unique blood values, in-depth medical history, and personal preferences. This is a truly personalised nutrition plan that will act as a "road map" for each woman to reach the desired health goals.

FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS

Nutritionist, dietitian, coaches, healthy influencers - there is so much noise in the wellness industry that can be overwhelming and confusing to tell the difference and who to listen to amongst all the conflicting messages.

Hope this session brings you some clarity.

  • This answer may be different depending on the geographic location. Here in Australia there is no legal protection over the terms ‘nutritionist’ or ‘dietitian’, so anyone can call themselves a nutritionist or dietitian - regardless of training level! - so if you are seeking for a nutrition professional, make sure to check the healthcare practitioner credentials at the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) & Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA).

Both nutritionists and dietitians will usually have completed a tertiary qualification in food and nutrition. Both aim to assist in a person’s journey to reaching optimal health, however dietitians are also qualified to work in hospital settings. I believe that nutritionists and dietitians have the same goal of helping people to be healthier and should be support each other.

  • A nutritionist's main role is to provide you with information and advice on lifestyle and food choices that better suits your needs at a point in time. Nutritionists are natural therapists and as such, treat a person in a holistic way by looking at different aspects of an individual life and not only their presenting complaint.
